Lenten Connections, Commitment Ministry

Lenten Connections

Welcome to Lent Connections! During the season of Lent we will be inviting you to connect with one another through the ministries of Westminster. Each of our ministries takes on different goals to serve our body and our Lord, here in the church and beyond. Each week of Lent we are going to invite you to participate in a ministry with an activity designed for members of all ages to learn more about that ministry have have a chance to be a valued contributor. This week you get to be a part of the Commitment Ministry.

Lenten Connections, Commitment Ministry

Welcome to the Commitment Ministry!

This week you are a part of the Commitment Ministry. In Commitment we help the people of Westminster Presbyterian Church find ways to use their resources to support the missions inside and outside the church. The phrase we use to describe those resources is “time, talents, and treasures.”

In the fall, we do a stewardship campaign and encourage members to inform the Finance Ministry the “treasure” they can expect to share in the upcoming year which helps plan a budget for the church. In the spring we help people find out about opportunities to volunteer in different ministries during Lent. That’s how people can use their “time and talent.”

Another thing Commitment does is Roll Review where we look over the list of members and make sure it is up-to-date. During this process we see people we may need to check on. Keeping our list of members up to date is important for logistical reasons but it is even more important that everyone who is a part of our community knows they are cared about and thought about.

For Commitment Ministry’s special Lenten activity we have pre-addressed and stamped an envelopes in the foyer and narthex. There is a card for each family of the church as an opportunity to reach out to one another and connect with a word of kindness. If you would like to participate, please take 3-5 cards with you today and and send them out this week so friends at Westminster get a message reminding them they are cared about.

Thank you,
